Artist Bio

Joe Beasley, a photographer since 1960, studied photojournalism at the University of Miami. While there he was influenced by Wilson Hicks, Picture Editor of Life Magazine. After serving in the Army as a photographer, Mr. Beasley returned to McMinnville and worked as a technical photographer at AEDC. Later he operated a camera store. He served as the juror at the Twentieth Annual Photograph Exhibit of the Tennessee Valley Art Association. He Created a supplemental exhibit to the Smithsonian Institute’s exhibition “Lincoln and His Contemporaries: Photographs of Matthew Brady from the National Portrait Gallery’s Meserve Collection” for the Tullahoma Fine Art Center.
In addition, he has won numerous State and Regional awards, Edited Warren County Tennessee: Pictorial History, and has had numerous photographs published on the cover of Spoon River Poetry Review. He has also been published in Photographer’s Forum: Best of Photography.
